Sustainability
We're on a mission to look after our planet and our people - one clean-up, one tree, one small win at a time.
What Guides Us
Maqasid Shariah
Guided by the Maqasid Shariah - preserving faith, life, the mind, progeny and wealth - together with government, industry and community.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Our work lines up with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and Brunei Vision 2035.
United Nations Global Compact
As a UN Global Compact member, we commit to ten universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
Our Sustainability Framework
Launched in October 2021, it rests on 3 pillars - inspired by the Maqasid Shariah and the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Environmental Protection
Preservation of Life & Lineage
Responsible Entrepreneurship
Preservation of Life & Wealth
Inclusive Social Impact
Preservation of Intellect, Faith, Life & Wealth
What We're Up To
🏖️Beach Clean Up
Staff and community volunteers team up for regular coastal clean-ups, cutting waste and protecting Brunei's shoreline.
🌳Tree Planting & Environmental Conservation
BIBD joined several 2023 tree-planting drives, including at the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition and Mission Green Possible.
🤝Partnership for the Goals
BIBD became the first private organisation to sign an MOU with the Brunei National Council on Climate Change.
♻️Plastic Free Brunei
We distribute reusable items and run awareness campaigns to help cut single-use plastics across Brunei.
🌱Projek Alam Mampan
Our flagship environmental project launched with '660 Roots to a Greener Future', planting trees across all four districts.
🐠Coral Restoration
BIBD deploys reef balls to help rebuild Brunei's coral reefs and support marine biodiversity.
🎓Shaping the Future: Student Outreach
With Shell, STEP Centre and Big BWN Project, our 'Waste Not, Save More' workshops teach students zero-waste habits and financial literacy.
