Bandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei Association of Banks (BAB) contingent for the National Sports Festival (PSK) received a boost yesterday following the handing over of flag and jerseys at the BIBD building.

This year, Brunei Association of Banks will be represented by 164 athletes and officers who will be contesting in a total of 11 sporting events.

The sporting events are badminton, netball, basketball, golf, tennis, bowling, futsal, football, softball, athletics and table tennis. The BAB chairman, Abdul Razak bin Abdul Malek who is also the CEO of UOB (Brunei) in his speech said: "We from various banks have come together as one to compete with other contingents. Believe in ourselves and we can do it. Win more medals for the association"

Haji Abdul Aziz bin Md Kassim, the chef-de-mission in his welcoming remarks said: "A number of preparations have been done by all the participants for the national sports festival. With the preparation, we are hoping to record more medals in this year's participation."

In an interview, Hj Abdul Aziz said: "We will try our best to obtain more medals especially when we are taking part in more sporting events than the previous sport festival."

"In the last national sports festival, we got ninth place. This year we are hoping to get a better position."

Meanwhile, Abdul Razak handed over the BAB 's flag to Haji Abdul Aziz and the jerseys to each of the 11 team managers of the sporting events. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
