June 3, 2010 - Today marked the launch of ‘Satu Ringgit Satu Hari’ saving scheme by Balai Ibadat Kg Sengkarai and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD).

The schemes were launched by Acting Tutong District Officer Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu at the Balai Ibadat Kg Sengkarai in Tutong.

The event started with a welcoming speech and briefing by Imam Hj Hamaffi bin Md Yassin of Balai Ibadat Kg Sengkarai and BIBD Assistant Manager of Tutong Branch Khairul Salleh bin Hj Kamaluddin. The event was then followed by a certificate presentation to the participants of the scheme by Tutong Acting District Officer and to Balai Ibadat Kg Sengkarai by BIBD.

Khairul Salleh in his briefing talked about adopting a savings culture and ways on how to save. He also touched on the Al-Wadiah savings account and shared with the attendees on the performance of the 'Anak Ku Bijak Duit' scheme and 'Satu Ringgit Satu Hari' scheme so far.

The main aim of the programme is to provide guidance to the community on the importance of saving for the family. The programme encourages the Tutong community to take up a habit of saving a dollar a day to achieve their financial goals.

The programme is also a contribution from Balai Ibadat Kampong Sengkarai and BIBD Tutong Branch to the country in working together with the Tutong community to achieve the country’s Vision 2035, especially in the field of economy.

Other aims of the programme include strengthening ties among the community in the Tutong district and providing lifelong education to the community.
